Big 12 Football Championship
A collection of posts put together by my colleague Daniel Fedyaev and I for the Big 12 Football Championship between Texas Tech and BYU. Shot on my FX6, we had card runners throughout the day so that live-posting could be done more quickly without missing crucial game-action moments. Being able to capitalize on these moments as they happened was important for us in telling the story of this historic day.
Team Arrivals
Our video team was spread across both teams for maximum coverage. Everything from bus arrivals to players walking around the field before warmups. I was on a 16-35 Sony GM since I knew we’d be cropping vertically for Instagram, and I wanted there to be a wide enough frame to comfortably shoot in.
Warmups + National Anthem
While I covered BYU’s warmups, another video shooter on our team covered TTU. Maximum coverage possible, so we can set ourselves up for kickoff. We wanted to capitalize on the key moments in the game and have a video focus for posts.
Game-action and halftime reels using in-game broadcast audio and multiple angles, minutes after these plays happened.
The Celebration. The Moment.
After the clock hit zero, everything was crazy, and time moved slowly. The media rushed the field along with TTU’s sideline, and then the stage was set for the trophy ceremony and confetti. This was the first time I had captured a championship game, and it surely knocked off some of my dream shots from the bucket list.
